“Memory Loss” Case
Avoid Turning a Difficult Situation Into Disaster for You and Your Loved Ones
September 2007 – Hyde Park, Utah – J.O.
“A neighbor of mine told me of an incident when his brother had developed memory loss and was found while trying to find his way home.
His brother never married and lived alone. He had a good job and was very immaculate in the care of his home and personal appearance.
Whenever they visited him everything seemed so organized and nothing was ever out of place. Often, he commented on how he would love to
be the executor of his estate, as everything seemed so organized and in order. My neighbor got on a plane and flew to be with him. While
there, he found his home and personal effects in total disarray. Because of the distance, they hadn't gotten together very often. None
of his neighbors seemed to have noticed any change, as his memory loss was a gradual one. While there my neighbor tried to put together
all the unorganized pieces and move his brother home closer to him.
Unpaid bills, unopened bank statements, canceled insurance policies, and other personal documents were all piled up. What once seemed to
have been a very simple well-organized task, turned out to be a nightmare for him. It now has become a full-time job just trying to piece
everything together.”
