“Unprepared for Tragedy” Case

None of His Affairs Were in Order When Tragedy Struck

February 2002 – Logan, Utah – D.M.
“A business associate of mine had a brother that had never been sick a day in his life. He hadn't seen a doctor since he was in the U.S. Navy 40 years earlier. One day he noticed a sore on his leg that was irritating him and began to swell. He thought that he had just bumped it and decided to walk it off. Later that day it became so painful that he "let" his wife make him a doctor's appointment. As the day progressed, his pain intensified so much that he asked his wife to take him to the emergency room of the hospital where he was admitted. He was diagnosed with thrombi-phlebitis. Shortly thereafter, a blood clot broke off and worked its way to his brain, causing him to go into a coma. Two weeks later on his 59th birthday he died. While he was in the hospital it became apparent that he wasn't going to survive and someone asked if all his affairs were in order.

They spent the next two weeks going through every important looking document that he had. While his wife "knew" what they had, she didn't "know" what they had. He always took care of all the financial dealings of the business and household.

After sorting through everything they could find, they started making calls to see just what they still had in force. Insurance policies, investments, bills, bank statements, savings accounts, CD's, notes on things that he apparently wanted to check on, mortgage and loan documents, and all the rest. While they tried to sort everything out, to this day his wife still feels that there are some items that have been overlooked and lost. My associate came back home realizing that his affairs were in that same condition as his brothers and began listing all of his important personal and financial data on a piece of paper. It soon became apparent that something more was necessary to track all of this information. MyEXECutor Vault was put together as a result of this experience.”
